    Nextv is terrific

After suffering through several months of terrible service and then getting shafted by OverseaTV, I discovered Nextv - thankfully through this forum. I ran the update on my wave-300 box per the instructions on the nextv site and finally reached someone at nextv (be patient) - the new service rocks!!!  Running 3+ hours with no interruption in service. No stuttering, no freeze-out, no drop-outs, etc.  The quality is better than the last 4+ months of O'tv I will be happy with the 5 channels available today and with the promise of additional changes in the near future, I couldn't be happier.  Now let's hope the service continues for the long-term.  Cheers...Garry

    Hello Guys,

I'm a NexTV customer, too but I heard that a company called German IPTV is now offering 24 German channels. A friend of mine is a customer and I checked out the picture quality, which was really good. Additionally, the picture seems to be stable and in two hours (time I watched) didn't experience a single freeze-up.

I think that is pretty good. What do you think?

    Hello Red Ace!

I found this website with lots of german channels on it http://www.elba.cc/. I just hope that Nextv is offering the same thing soon, that is the service I have currently.

    Re: Nextv is terrific

    RedAce,

Like you, I have been VERY impressed with NexTV.  Overall picture quality and reliability far exceeds what OverseaTV ever provided.  However, there is still some pixelization that occurs with the faster action scenes, but NexTV customer service is aware of this, and they are working to resolve it.  What really impresses me about NexTV is the reliability (along with the quality, of course).  I have not observed any picture freezing or audio problems in several weeks now.  To keep this in perspective, however, I must say I have not watched much German TV though due to lack of programming interest on my part, but what I have watched has been definitely "2 thumbs up!" in regards to overall quality and reliability of the video and audio. I am actually beginning to relax when I do watch a German show since my confidence is high that I will be able to watch a show from beginning to end without technical problems disrupting the entertainment experience.

With that said, you stated NexTV is working on a lot of new stuff which really interests me.  May I ask that you share what you believe may be in store in the future for NexTV subscribers?  Obviously, I am interested in several more stations being added such as MDR, WDR, etc., but I believe this will happen in time.  Until then, the addition of ARD alone was huge, and will retain me as a customer.  However, with IPTV just beginning to take off, I suspect there may be more exciting things to offer, and I am curisous if you care to share.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Nextv is terrific

Well i do not want to say too much because things are still in progress.

But what i will say in the coming months the quality should get much better and in time it will be very good to excellent.  There also working on new features that will alow the consumer to do more with there system.   I do not really want to speak on there behalf but those are a few tidbits i was told.

    Re: Nextv is terrific

Thank you, RedAce, for the tidbits.  Like you, I would not want to speak on behalf of NexTV either.  But I am one who is very excited about IPTV and the possibilities, so I am always trying to learn as much as I can -- especially as it pertains to the German TV since I am a subscriber.

I will remain patient and confident that NexTV will be a huge success.  So far, I have been super impressed.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Nextv is terrific

    Hi everyone,

I have been a customer for 2 weeks but I am having a lot of problem with NexTV's  Hungarian package in Toronto Canada. I am actually ready to cancel the service if the problem doesn't get resolved  soon.

Freeze ups are so common that we cannot really enjoy watching the programs.  Occasionally we can watch a program for an hour or so but we are never able to watch a movie to the end. My Internet provider is Acanac with 5 Mbit service speed.

NexTV said that their servers were capable of handling the ever-increasing number of  customers, and the IP provider Acanac in Toronto Canada is investigating the problem.  I checked the speed and it was fine.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Nextv is terrific

Vajk69   I have Used Getnextv for  ayear now I have the Russian package.I am very HAPPY with them and there service.  I will say they have gone through some growing pains,,BUT the best thing you can do Vajk69  Is if you can Call them when the problem is happening,, call and tell the tech rep to turn to the channel that you are watching that is having problems and let them see whats going on and he will have it addressed ASAP.  I have done this and within a day it's usally fixed and back to normal.

They are still growing and things are always changing and upgrading but i know they have invested alot into this service it is not just a plug and play fly by night service so hang in there i belive that things will get much better soon. Work with them let them know what is going on and when it is happening.

    Re: Nextv is terrific

Call Getnextv ask for Technical support.  Call them if you can when the problems are happening.

Tell the tech support to turn to the channel you are watching and are having problems with and let him see what is happening.  he will look to get it address right away.

I live in New York i use Optonline.  It is one of the fastes internet services in the country.
