  • Re: Zapping time

From my experience, it is hard to go under 1.5-2 seconds in advanced coding scearios.Scarcer intra frames, buffer filling, etc. make it difficult to go under these figures.Regards,Hoopz

  • Re: DVB-IPI

I don't know any commercial DVB-IPI deployment. I know a bunch of technical providers that implement it (STBs), but for the moment is not being used.DVB-IPI introduces additional complexity that can be interested in some hybrid deployments (DVB-C/IP, for instance), but doesn't provide any added value in fresh deployments.

  • Re: Video Coding ?

MPEG-x standards (underline that word) have strong support from the industry and provide good quality/compression. That's why they are used in almost any deployment. There are some experiences with VC-1 (WM9) as well, but marginal compared with MPEG-4.Regards,Hoopz

  • Re: please help

you can simulate iptv with VLC streaming contents in a multicast form, and VLC accessing that content from another PC, all over a network segment. That's the essence of IPTV that, unlike internet TV, is based on isolated contents broadcast over multicast groups. If you can grab an IPTV set-top box (amino, etc.), the demo would be significantly more ...

  • Re: IPTV

IPTV deployments usually cover the following aspects:IPTV ecosystem selection: choose of elements/providers that will configure the IPTV framework (HE, MW, STBs, etc.)IPTV ecosystem tests: once every part is deployed and fully functional, individual tests are carried out in order to ensure basic functionalities.IPTV ecosystem integration: under the

Mainly cable tv because two main reasons:The set of features that can be provided to the final customer are quite similar (at least, the killer ones such as VoD)Cable operators have lots of experience in the television businessSatellite can compete in the TV arena, but obviosly cannot provide triple/quadruple play services, at least not in a ...
