Re: Need info on new german tv please

    Hallo Marienkäfer,

I also had OverseaTV and was very happy with it, despite "die Macken" that would occur every now and then.  Nevertheless, the content was great (viele öffentlich-rechtliche Sender) and live.

As for now,  I was a bit more fortunate than you, in that I have a Wave 300 box that was upgradeable, which I did myself.  I then went ahead and suscribed with NexTV.  As you may have read, there are only 5 channels available:  ProSiebenSat.1Welt (already available on Dish Network), DW-TV USA (also already available on Dish Network), ZDF, RTL II, und Das Vierte.  So as far as content is concerned, there really is only one channel of interest, to me  and that is ZDF.  ARD (das Erste) und die anderen dritten Programme fehlen.

Is it worth it?  Well, NexTV is offering the first three months free, i.e.,  I am still paying a one-time activation fee  ($25) and a monthly access fee of ($3).  So, for three months I can check it out at a total cost of $34 and decide.  I think in the long run if ARD (das Erste) is not included in the package, I will not keep the subscription for basically one channel (ZDF).  II am hopeful that NexTV will add more öffentlich-rechtliche Sender.  In your case, it seems you have to shell out more for a new box, if zou wish to subscribe.

As far as VUTV.tv and elba.cc, both are resellers and were previously reselling OverseaTV.  VUTV.tv is now reselling NexTV.  What elba.cc is doing is not clear to me.  I tried to call them a few times and could not get through.  I am guessing that they will also resell NexTV, as that is currently the only German IPTV provder that I am aware of.  My personal opinion is to deal directly with the provider, rather than with a reseller.  No need to deal with a "middle man".

Another suggestion is to check out shift.tv.  It is

    Hope the above helps.

    Schöne Grüße
