The term IPTV has many meanings these days. The term Internet TV is different then IPTV in that the media is actually transmitted across the public internet to the private access pipes into our homes. Todays IPTV implementations typically source content directly onto the private access pipes coming to our home. The content originates at the head ends and takes private pipes all the way to our house. Private pipes, as opposed to the public internet, are considered more secure. Internet TV will yield a whole new set of security issues.
