Amino STB management

I work at a remote site and recently we changed to an IPTV system that uses Amino 130 boxes. I was not involved in the installation but have been asked to help with the administration.

Imagine my surprise to learn that each box has to be individually managed, in THIS day and age? Amino is supposed to be a market leader? Really?

We only have around 20 or so to manage so it is not too much hassle but there is no way in hell I would deploy these in a large scale, what a pain.

My question is what the hell where Amino thinking? I would expect a management solution that has a single piece of software that allows you to but each STB in a group. You could then change the settings for the group and those changes get pushed out.

The other issue I have is the naming of the channels. At the moment we have a laminated piece of paper with list of channel numbers and what channels they are.

How stupid is it not to be able to change the channel to a more user friendly name. Is that possible?

iptv world forum London did you go

I went to this years world forum in london this year. I enjoyed most of it but was a bit disapointed with some bits. I did this see much for the consumer. I was hoping to see more of whats available on for market for us buys. I was more of a B2B event.

Hello, I'm about to invest in a business that streams cable feeds from Europe to Asia and I'm looking for hardware vendors right now. I've come across SysMaster and StreamTel. Basically, my setup involves an encoder (to take cable feed and convert to IP), a streamer (to stream to clients), and a billing system.

Does anyone have any other ideas or vendors I might've missed?

I have a business model to launch a private television network into 10 test sites with a maximum of 102,000 sites. Strong revenue stream, unlimited content ideas. My question is, with so much technology facing this idea, what is the best medium to use. IPTV, satellite, or digital signage. Why IPTV? I do not know this industry, I know mine. I am asking for technology advice. Any comments would be appreciated. This is a great site for learning and gaining information!

Hi Gus, can you recommend a good quality and price manufacturer/brand for the IP TV services in Canada? If you can give an ideas on the prices that would be great. We are not going to have a great volume at the begining, so if some companies offer models "buy as you go" that would be great. And if there are set up boxes that are "plug and play" without a need a professional installation, that would be great.

I am from India. I use http://www.WorldTV.in to surf IPTV channels.

Really they serve a great quality. I surfed at least 500 channels of 1300+ channels available there.

I have also tried JumpTV.com but they are charging a very high fee, around 20$ per channel per month, I think no one on this earth will be interested.

Prospects for IPTV deployment in the UK

OK, good to see these forums underway.

Given the recent spate of announcements (BT/Microsoft, Telewest, Sky, France Telecom) around planned IPTV deployments in the UK, what do forum members feel as to the likely impact on the UK Digital TV market? Will 'Pure Play' IPTV become a fourth delivery channel for Digital TV (alongside DTT, DSAT and Cable) in its own right, or will IPTV delivery emerge as part of a Hybrid solution? Will it follow the emergent French and Italian models? Or will it fail to make an impact altogether? And on what timescales?

I raised some of these points, and offered an opinion that a hybrid model will ultimately emerge in a recent presentation to the EBU (reproduced at http://www.ebu.ch/trev_home.html - lots of good, if rather technical stuff in here).
