My mother in law is moving into a senior apartment facility where she cannot install a satellite dish. She currently gets the GLOBO (Brazilian TV in Brazilian Portugese language) channel via satellite dish and will be very sorry to lose access to it.
I would like to help her retain access to her favorite channel.
I have satellite dish service and can add her channel to my service and give her access via Slingbox or HAVA or similar.
I could get a PVR with a DVD burning drive and burn her discs of content every few days.
I could try to extract recorded shows from a PVR (I have a little experience with this on my Tivos, but have not been wild about it) and then send them to a PC or Apple TV or other device at her location over TCP/IP. (We will both have high-speed IP access and I can set up a VPN if necessary.)
She could subscribe to an IP TV service that provides GLOBO access, although I haven't found one yet.
Any ideas or suggestions? We don't mind spending some money on this project if it will provide reliable results that are usable by a 78-year old person (who can use Email, web browsers, and Tivo, but isn't going to have anything to do with a command line prompt or ssh'ing into anything.)
