    Re: OverseaTV (German TV)

For a clarification on NEXTV and VUTV, I spoke with both companies.  NEXTV is an IPTV service provider, while VUTV is a reselling partner or agent for NEXTV.  Both companies are Canadian companies.

VUTV used to be a reseller for OverseaTV and now that OverseaTV is defunct, VUTV has aligned themselves with NEXTV.

Additionally, it should be noted that VUTV is providing a firmware patch for the Wave 300 STB on their website.  I have read that this patch is also applicable to the Ariza 500 STB as well.  Despite being offered by VUTV, according to NEXTV, this patch was in fact developed by NEXTV, and if you look inside the upgrade.tar.gz file (a zipped file), you will find a jpeg containing a NEXTV logo.  I have seen a post by NEXTV pointing to the patch on VUTV's site.

Lastly, to be clear for people interested in German TV, both the VUTV and NEXTV sites are not up to date.  NEXTV/VUTV are offering 5 German language channels.  They are:  ZDF, ProSiebenSat1Welt, DW-TV, EuroNews, and RTLII.  Thus it should be noted, that this is not the same 10 channels formerly offered by OverseaTV.  However, NEXTV/VUTV is quick to point out that these 5 channels are "licensed" to be broadcast, which was not the case with OverseaTV.  What is not clear to me though is, are these channels licensed only for Canada, or are they also licensed for USA as well.  Considering that 3 out of 5 of these channels are carried by Dish Network, I am not so sure.  At any rate, the whole licensing issue seems to be one big nebulous grey area.

    Re: OverseaTV (TVITALIANA)

    hey ena,

since Overseatv has been down i've also went to shift tv and joined, but my problem is that i only have the US citizenship now, so i can't record the good shows after 8pm german time due to i don't have age verification from german id nummer. I emailed them constantly for two days and no answer. I thought my credit card was enough. So are they for real or just a scam too?    Servus, leo

    Re: OverseaTV (German TV)

Ok so thank you for the info but i need a little more clarification.

OnVutv for example they show there Russian package as 18 channels for $19.00

the channels they show are basicaly same as what i had with TVRossiya.

As for getnextv they show 18 different channels for $29.00  so what is it that i will be getting when i sign up for the Russian package.

both companies Getnextv and VuTv i think are going to be great!! BUT they need to do everyone a big favor and CLEARLY updated there sites and keep them updated.

Ok so please let me know..

    Re: OverseaTV (German TV)

    Servus Leo,

da gilt der Spruch "In der Not wird der Mensch erfinderisch".  ShiftTV requires the Personalausweisnummer for age verification purposes only.  The trick here is to enter in one for a person that is at least 18 years old.  Now if you do a Google search on "Personalausweisnummer Generator", I am sure that you will find something that will meet your needs.  Good luck.

By the way to answer your other question, ShiftTV is not a scam.  I have been a subscriber to ShiftTV since January 2006 (right after GermanTV folded on Dish Network).  I have been very satisfied with the service.  I should point out that I too am a US citizen and can successfully record all programs around the clock on ShiftTV.

    Mach's gut!

    Re: OverseaTV (German TV)

    Red Ace,

I do not know about the Russian package, as my research only involved the German package (I am German).

My advice to you is to do what I did, namely, call NEXTV and/or VUTV and find out specifically what channels they offer, then post it here to share with the rest of us.

    Cheers.

    Re: OverseaTV

Are the Channel Lineups for Russian TV the same on VuTV and GetNetTV?

I can't find the Website for VuTV...If you have it can you post it?

    Thank you,

    Patrick

    Re: OverseaTV

As NEXTV (http://www.getnextv.com/) is the IPTV provider and VUTV (http://www.vutv.tv/) is the reseller/dealer/partner for NEXTV, the channels they both currently provide are identical.

The websites are as posted above in the parentheses.  As I have pointed out in a prior post, both websites are NOT up to date as to the channels they offer.  Call them to find out specifically what Russian channels they offer.

    Re: OverseaTV (Arabic TV)

    shahla:
Did anyone contact a lawyer about this? If any of you did, then please send along the lawyer's name and phone number. There should be a lawsuit against ShiftTV and BroadShift. They cannot take people's money and disappear like this. At least not in this country.

Please let me (and others) know if one of you contacted a lawyer. If the answer is no, then I will be contacting one shortly and will keep you posted.

I also think a class action law suit is in order, This is not right business practice and if we dont make them pay then other companies will do the same thing,  shahla let me know what u want to do

    Re: OverseaTV

wkor1 is correct,, I also spoke today with both companies and problem is there website's have not yet been updated to show both are working together and will be offering the SAME channels at the SAME price.  So VuTV will be providing getnextv service.  It will all be the same.

Best thing about this is,, from all things i have been researching this will be all legit,
this we be a company we can trust and belive in to provide us with great service.

We should all in time be able to get all the great channels we want that we could never get with satellite or cable company's

So thank you Getnextv and vutv for working together to give us back the programing we want!!

    Re: OverseaTV

    wkor1,

Thanks again for your info. With the shift.tv service, are you watching your shows on your computer or are you watching them on your regular TV? The reason I ask is because I can successfully records shows using a testID but I don't like to watch them on my computer screen (too small).

Is there a way to download the shows once they are recorded so that they can be streamed to the TV using media center?

    thanks

    ena

    Vutv:

    Dear Valued Customers

We just got news from our techs that the cms 500 and the Ariza 500 will also work on our system .

Also we have the Arabic programming working , Italian will be availble shortly.

Visit our website www.vutv.tv to get the patch

    Regards

    Support

    Dear Vutv,

Are we CMS 500 and Ariza 500 users supposed to then follow the same directions as was provided for Wave 300 users?  If so, can we call you and be guided through these directions.  I am not very computer literate and can't quite follow them (not even sure what a "usb key" is).

    Thank you for your assistance.
