    Re: OverseaTV - German TV

So what now? We either have to wait to see what company bought out OverseaTV or we go with VuTV? I still think the consumers are being shafted somewhere....

I've had my OverseaTV box since June and never really had any big issuses until October when certain channels would be down for some reason. Then end of December everything goes blank. I feel it's wrong for any company not to inform their customers about their problems. I would have understood if they explained it in a letter or email. And would be happy to get a refund on the month/or box.

Now, I have visited some other site boards, mainly speaking German, and they tell me that another company is providing German stations via the internet and they have 19 German stations that they provide for a price of $14.99 (this month). I would go with them but I'm still a bit worried about loosing out again. I've spoken to a few customers of Shift TV and they all said it was great. Only thing is, I don't know that much about the company...Has anyone here? Are they ok? Please help.

    Re: OverseaTV - German TV

I think it is obvious that VUTV is making an effort to provide new service. If overseatv is out of business and out of money that is history.

I have not found another company that is offering premium content that can be viewed on a standard NTSC television set. Many compnaies offer low-priced service that does not include stations like ZDF and ARD and/or must be watched on a PC. There's nothing like getting 1,000 free TV stations on your computer and not one has programming worth watching.

    Re: German Tv

Dear OCLady, I had a CMS500 Set Top Box in the beginning that constantly locked up and buffered. Even as a PC geek I also thought it was the internet or connections, but after enough complaints to Overseatv I was given a Sunniwell S-Box-6100 and was impressed. I never saw a buffer screen again and picture quality was even better. I rarely had any issues except for their worst maintenance times (so they said) which seemed to mess my Fussball games up. Unfortunately I've noticed that nobody else has mentioned a Sunniwell Box in this forum, so I'm not sure if Vutv will be compatible with it. I sure hope so. Otherwise for the almost 2 years of service with Overseatv I was very satisfied to help my Heimweh. Hope this helps. Servus

    Re: OverseaTV

I have had OverseaTV(German TV) for about two years, and had been very satisified.   I started off paying 19.95 a month, then after six months, the price went to 29.95 a month, which I've been paying ever since.  There were some problems along the way, but that was the fault of TimeWarner Cable.  I had TimeWarner cable's Roadrunner service and everything worked for about a year and a half, although I did get "Buffering, please wait" messages, and always assumed those buffering messages was a problem with OverseaTV.

About six months ago, my service went out completely.  After working with OverseaTV(they were very helpful) and TimeWarner, I determined it was TimeWarner's problem.   I took my set top box to my parent's home and hooked it up to the TV and their internet service.  They have AT&T DSL which is through the phone line and much slower than TimeWarner's Roadrunner.

Guess what?  It worked perfectly, and not one "Buffering, please wait" message the whole weekend.  So now I know the problem was TimeWarner all along.

Since moving a couple of months ago, I haven't tried to connect to OverseaTV until today.  After two or three hours of trying, I finally got a message on the TV that says "We've been unable to obtain necessary funding to continue business".    I am very disappointed.   I want my German TV!!!!

Does anyone know what's going on?   I have not received any notification from OverseaTV about them going out of business.  Reading some of the other posts, it sounds like they are trying to restore service or some other company will take over and restore service.

I am disappointed that OverseaTV did not communicate any of this to it's customers.  Even if service is restored, I think we all should expect a refund or some kind of credit to our accounts.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

    Moin pokoj,

I also had buffering problems and it turned out to be my internet provider's(TimeWarnerCable)problem, not the fault of OverseaTV.  These "high-speed" providers charge the price for high speed but very many people are not getting the "high-speed" service they are paying for, myself included.  Also, there are bottlenecks in their networks which causes the buffering problems.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

I don't know anything about the suniwell box.  I have a CMS500, box.   I don't have a soccer club as I' not a big sports fan, although I did watch the Weltmeisterschaft games and activities that were held in Germany on my OverseaTV.   It was great and I enjoyed it very much.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

I wish that I had just a problem with buffering. The CMS500 doesn't show a buffering warning and then restore the broadcast...it just totally locks up and will not work at all until rebooted.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

You(GetNexTV)only have 3 German channels, ProSieben, Deutsche Welle and a news channel.  You are missing all the major German channels such as ZDF, ARD, 3SAT, WDR, MDR, and Phoenix, which I was getting with OverseaTV.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

I am pretty confused on the whole situation. I had OverseaTV for Russian Programing. The service died and is out of money, with no notification to the users.  I wasn't too bright on this one and prepaid a years worth of service a few months ago and am pretty upset over being ripped off.

My question is: Will OverseaTV every come back and is it worth waiting to see?

Second with Getnex TV now making a pretty good exit offer, should we wait or go to a service that is up and running.

Last: What would be the costs of prepaying GETNEX TV for 3,6,12 months?

Just another holder or a worthless Internet TV box.

    Re: OverseaTV (TV ARABIYA)

pokoj,  the sunniwell worked great for me. I'm on a dedicated highspeed line (1287KB/sec or 10mbps) with no provider problems. If your problems were in the last half year, I'm sure it was Overseatv. There are various factors to consider (servers, hubs, nodes, the lines across country and weather). I would use Cable over DSL for IPTV. Every Box can have it's issues. For me the CMS was a headache, which after switching it was definitely defective. I would love to continue using my sunniwell, but does not look promising. The hardware technology with the Internet is not perfect.  I just hope we all get a service provider again and go from there. I will worry about the Box after getting service first.  Meine Vereine, na ist ja wohl logisch 1860 , aber auch FCB seit dem ich von Muenchen weg bin.  Servus

ICH BRAUCH MEIN DSF und natuerlich auch ARD und ZDF. So eine ***!!!

    Nextv

No way, your channels aren't mainstream german channels.

Where and what 18 channels; see only 3 german ones on your site. Don't need anymore news channels. Need german entertainment & sport channels.

ARD,ZDF,DSF,WDR,MDR,Festival and 3SAT are the real thing, without these there is no German tv.
