Embedded Software Engineer (*Middleware Porting and Support*)

Description of Job:
• Senior-level individual contributor position, primarily involving design, implement, test and debug for porting middleware or developing sample code on top of Broadcom platform and make the relevant document. Later, support for middleware licensee to port the middleware. Some travel may be required.

Description of Position:
Looking for a consultant within its QA/Technical Support Group who will report to the QA/Support Project Manager. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and has an anticipated length of 1 year. It will be in Princeton/Plainsboro, New Jersey till the end of May 2007 and then it will move to Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Telecommuting is not possible.
Responsibilities:
· Develop test programs and applications for an OCAP compliant Set-Top Box (STB) and to control digital video hardware required in testing.
· Perform QA activities to ensure quality for the OCAP Middleware - execute tests, register defects, and track defects to resolution.
· Perform 1st line technical support activities for OCAP middleware and related products – phone, web and onsite, duplicate customer defects.
· Perform productization activities for OCAP middleware and related products – prepare release package, author release notes.
· Some travel may be required
Required Skills/Experience:
· Developing C/C++ and Java Test Programs, Test Suites/Harnesses for a Set Top Box (STB) Embedded environment
· Cable STB Technologies (Digital TV/MPEG software, Cable Head-End, Video on Demand (VOD), Conditional Access (CA) Systems, Encryption and Authentication protocols
· QA for Digital/Cable Television (DTV) or Set-Top Boxes (STB)
· Linux Operating system
· Using configuration management and version control software
· Strong communication skills to understand and follow up customer issues
· Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Skills/Experience:
1. Maintaining Web-servers and Database-servers.
2. Software release, Deployment and Documentation.
3. Customer support and related framework development.
4. Hardware/software system integration and testing.
Education:
BSCS or equivalent with a minimum of 7 years experience
