I have been surfing the search engines for 3 days looking for a "service provider" for IPTV.  I just got a wireless connection, at 54Mbps and now I am trying to get a service provider and a reciever.  I can find lots of sites if I want to become a service provider, but nothing if I am the end consumer.  I am located in West Virginia, but I assume that shouldn't matter with the internet.

A clarification, I want to watch TV, on my TV with the signal coming in thru the wirelss connection. I do not want to watch TV on my computer.  Where can i find a service provider?????

There aren't a lot of IPTV service providers in the U.S. at this point in time. This will change when Bellsouth and AT&T both start rolling out their implementatations.

Being in West Virginia, your best bet is probably waiting on Verizon FiOS to come (although I can't speak to specifics). Even after you can get Verizon FiOS Fiber-optic service, you will still need to wait for them to get a franchise agreement with the local government to start offering TV service.

I don't think that answers his/her question.  If any sort of fiber was available in their area, then they would not be on a wireless connection.  I've been researching this as well as my apartment has an ISP but the only television provider is AT&T and I will not ever do business with them again.  As a result I have a 50 inch flat screen with rabbit ears and foil on it and am demoing every form of iptv/video content on the net.

After hours of research, I have concluded that there is noone on the internet with decent content or technology as of Feb 2007.  I'll start a new thread and maybe people can post reviews of content providers and we can figure out the best of the worst.

Hi we are in final stages of software development of our IPTV service.

US launch is set for this summer, and wireless 802.11g is on the forefront of issues we are solving for our set top box. I don't want people to have to wire their entire homes up to be able to watch tv.

Thats too 'cable' and we are trying to break away from that pattern. There are solutions the end user can do to not have to wire up now, but they are costly and to be honest, wasteful.

When we are ready to launch I will announce it here, but yes, SOME service providers are looking out for you and listening to your suggestions.
