Yes, you can, that is what I am doing now, through a router. I have VZ DSL though, but should not make a difference.

No you can not.

Currently you can only watch GekTV through a Set-top-box, whether you connect the Set-top-box to your TV or your computer monitor is your choice, but a Set-top-box is required.

Well, so far, I know that CCTV in Kylin will broadcast the Olympic games for sure.But the commetators in CCTV  just "suck"! (I can not use another word to describe them) I don't have any information about GekTV right now, but I will keep watching on GekTV to see if it will offer good coverages of Olympics.

I am pretty sure the iCable news channel will have some coverage. I only have the $19.99 package, so I don't know if any other channel will cover the games.

I want to try out GekTV and I have Fibre but I have no way to tell the quality of video.
I asked GekTV and they said the streaming is at VCD quality (320 x 480). 

Can anyone speaks to the video resolution?   Is it worse than a DVD quality?

The video quality is fine. I am using the red-white-yellow cables currently and it is fine.  There is an alternate S-video and optical audio cable output for higher quality.  The TVB stuff is pretty high quality, but can't say about some channels like phoenix.

I have a regular router. I am surfing the web and watching gektv at the same time no problem.
